It’s known for its role in the Robin Hood legend and for the hilltop Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery, rebuilt many times since the medieval era. In the Lace Market area, once the centre of the world’s lace industry, the Galleries of Justice Museum has crime-related exhibits. Wollaton Hall is an ornate Elizabethan mansion with gardens and a deer park.

With a new 30-metre long toboggan slide, glass Narnia-esque drinks chalet, interactive Christmas-themed ice bar, award-winning tapas kitchen and the return of opening night fireworks - Christmas in Nottingham truly does come with all the trimmings this year.

The (faux) snow has finally set on Nottingham's very own 30 metre-long toboggan slide, which has landed next to the Brian Clough statue in King Street for the festive season.

 

Decorated with fairy lights and woodland features, the brand new all-glass chalet certainly gives off some seriously Narnia-esque vibes. Offering panoramic views of Nottingham, Bar Altitude will be perched on top of last year’s popular double-deck ski lodge-style bar, Sur La Piste .

A naughty v nice booth, life-size reindeer-pulled sleigh and giant snowman are among the sculptures at the new Winter Wonderland Ice Bar - where this year the theme is 'Christmas'.

 

Created by Sand in your Eye - the team behind director Danny Boyle's moving Armistice Day Pages of the Sea sand portraits - the frosty pop-up attraction has been carved out of 13 tonnes of solid ice and is designed to be the most interactive ice bar to date.
