Buxton is a spa town nestled in the centre of the beautiful Peak District. With its magnificent ornamental gardens and world famous Georgian and Victorian architecture, which provide an impressive backdrop to the town, it is not surprising the town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.

 

Whilst on tour, the following program includes;

 

Eyam

 

• The beautiful, historic village of Eyam (pronounced 'eem'), in the Peak District National Park has a very “famous” history after the Black Death of 1665 and 1666.

• An outbreak of the plague was contained when the villagers decided to isolate themselves from the surrounding communities. Many people in the village died. It is also known that some of the village populations were genetically unique and naturally immune to this very deadly disease. There are still descendants of this line in Eyam.

 

Castleton

 

• Castleton is one of the most beautifully situated villages in the Peak District. Castleton has something to offer visitors of all ages at any time of year. Castleton is the only place in the world where the semi-precious stone Blue John, can be found and there are numerous show caverns to explore. Relax in numerous cafés, tea rooms and quaint pubs.
