Dunoon is situated on the western side of the Fifth of Clyde. The historic town is famous for its Victorian Pier, lovely gardens, museums and galleries and a flat promenade to enjoy a stroll. Dunoon is within just a few miles is some of Scotland’s most spectacular mountain scenery. Dunoon and the Cowal peninsula is a beautiful area of Scotland from mountains in the north to the mellow scenery and sea lochs of the south. Cowal’s major town, Dunoon has been welcoming holiday makers for centuries and is famed for its independent shops blended with heritage.

 

Whilst on tour, the following program includes;

 

Balloch

 

  • Balloch is often referred to as the gateway to the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Balloch can be found on the southern shores of Loch Lomond and Balloch comes from the Gaelic word bal (baile or ball) which means village or hamlet, so Balloch translates as “village on the loch”, i.e. the nearby Loch Lomond. Balloch is historically famous for being an important gateway for boats entering Loch Lomond during the 1800s.

 

Oban

 

  • Known as “the Seafood Capital of Scotland” and “the Gateway to the Isles”. Oban is a buzzing and booming ferry port with a great mix of great shops, ranging from traditional Scottish to more know high street names plus cáfes, fine wine shops, seafood galore, galleries and attractions

 

Inveraray

 

  • Inveraray is the traditional county town of Argyll with splendid Georgian architecture which overlooks the water of Loch Fyne. Inveraray Castle is one of Inveraray's main attractions. There is also Inveraray Jail is a unique award-winning living museum, where costumed guides tell stories of former inmates and visitors can get actively involved in the experience. Inverary is a town that has been carefully preserved to showcase true highland history and heritage throughout the years.

 

The Selborne Hotel **

 

The Selborne Hotel is superbly situated looking South across the Clyde with rolling lawns reaching down to the promenade and water’s edge. All the public rooms and many of the bedrooms offer uninterrupted views of the river which is a constant source of interest. Dunoon is a great base to explore the surrounding attractions of Argyll Forest Park which is home to some of Scotland’s most spectacular mountain scenery, and nearby Benmore Botanic Garden. Don’t forget to upgrade to a room with a loch view to witness the extraordinary landscape on offer.

 

Rooms

 

  • There have 98 bedrooms, some of which have excellent views

  • All rooms have central heating but there isn’t any rooms with air conditioning

  • All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and Freeview TV with radio channels

  • Ironing facilities are available from reception

 

Dining & Entertainment

 

  • Bar lounge with dance floor where entertainment is provided most evenings 

  • Breakfast:

     Freshly cooked full Scottish Breakfast served at your table.  Take your pick from freshly cooked bacon, sausages, fluffy hash browns, eggs cooked just the way you like them and more. They also offer continental options, with fruit, cereals and yoghurt.

  • Dinner:

     Three course freshly cooked menu with vegetarian and vegan options served at your table, featuring many Scottish Classics and with tea and coffee to finish.

  • On arrival, you will be allocated a reserved time for the duration of your stay. If you wish to vary this time, please speak with your Restaurant team. Restaurant times may vary on departure and arrival days – full details available from Reception.
