Enjoy a 5 day holiday to Kent on our Spitfire & Heritage tour
27th 31st July
A "Spitfire & Kent Heritage Tour" offers a deep dive into the history of Kent during World War II, focusing on iconic aircraft like the Supermarine Spitfire. These tours allow visitors to see Spitfires in working hangars, witness ongoing restoration projects, view airworthy aircraft, and learn about the vital role of Kent in the Battle of Britain.
Whilst on tour, the following program includes;
Battle of Britain Memorial
A commemorative site at Capel-le-Ferne, on the White Cliffs, dedicated to the airmen who fought in the battle. It features the National Memorial to the Few, the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall with the names of those who served, and a replica Spitfire and Hurricane. Visitors can also experience the interactive Scramble Experience within The Wing building, enjoy a first-floor cafe with panoramic views, and see a stainless-steel Stuka sculpture.
Spitfire & Hurricane Museum
Manston's air history dates back to the First World War. At the outset of the war, nearby St Mildred's Bay in Westgate-on-Sea was used as a landing strip for aircraft. In the winter of 1915-16, aircraft started to use the open farmland of Manston as a site for emergency landings. Soon the Admiralty established an aerodrome at the site.
Dover Castle & The War Tunnels at Dover Castle
Dover Castle is a historic fortress featuring a large network of tunnels under the white cliffs, originally built in the Middle Ages and expanded for military use during the Napoleonic Wars. These tunnels are known for becoming a strategic command centre for Operation Dynamo, the WWII rescue of troops from Dunkirk, and later served as a Regional Seat of Government in the 1960s for potential nuclear war.
Wonderworks Museum
The reimagined experience features new miniature worlds and incredible exhibition pieces, along with a redesigned café with updated menu featuring local produce.
Look out for new exhibits and layouts that cater to speed freaks, engine geeks, and car connoisseurs! Whether you're a model train enthusiast, a car aficionado, or just love innovative engineering, there will be something special for you.
In addition to interacting with the impressive exhibitions, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the history of the company and to learn how Hornby, Airfix, CORGI, Scalextric and Pocher make their models and kits.
